For the past 19 years, Scotiabank and the Scotiabank Foundation are committed to supporting women’s causes and engaging women in our communities. We are committed to helping every woman, child, and family become better off and doing what we can to help future generations to be guaranteed mothers, wives, sisters and grandmothers. In keeping with this, every year we host the Scotiabank Women against Breast Cancer Golf Tournament and the Scotiabank Women against Breast Cancer 5k, geared towards promoting women’s health and wellness.
In 2017, 48 corporate sponsored teams teed off for a donation of $100,000 to the Family Planning Association (FPA). The funds will be used towards an outreach programme focused on women’s health and wellness. The FPA carries out vital and much needed work in communities and offers women in particular, a special package that includes: contraception, pap smears, voluntary counselling & testing for HIV and sexually transmitted diseases, breast examinations, testing for diabetes and blood pressure and counselling. The FPA also has specific programmes for young people and operates FPA Outreach where the team visits communities in rural areas of the country, helping women of all backgrounds become better off.
